    James DeGale

    Anyone know what's going on with him?

    I think he's a very good boxer although maybe lack that vital killer instinct. But his fighting pattern is so inconsistent. He'll not fight for eight months then fight twice in a few weeks. Then he'll do the same again. And it will be against fighters you've barely heard of.

    When he won the Gold Medal FIVE years ago I would have expected him to have had a couple of high profile bouts by now but apart from the Groves bout (which I had a draw but thought DeGale could have won if he'd really tried) he's just been fighting in backwater venues against nondescript opposition.

    Anyway, enough about me.... anyone have any info on him? Future fights, etc...

    I am guessing he's up there in North London hoping and praying Groves gets the result over Froch....

    .....because that puts any rematch right at the top of everyone's agenda, it is a direct route to a world title belt and puts a whole lot of bread on the table.

    Reckon James will be shouting for George the loudest (behind closed doors!).

    James has had injury issues and I think his relationships with previous promoters were (at best) somewhat fractious. So that has slowed him down.

    But although I am not a fan of the guy, I can still see him getting to the top and when he's at his best there's no doubting he is world class. There's going to be a changing of the guard in the SMW division sooner or later with Ward needing a mega-fight and Carl finally going out on his shield....and I think James will be right in the mix.

      He's fallen out with Mick Hennessy, hasn't he?

        Looks like it, should have joined Hearn when he had the chance.

        Hennessy is not getting enough support from Channel 5 it seems.

          7:04 - Kugan asks Hennessy about Degale, he can't comment on it. Hearn mentioned in his Sky Sports blog that he's looking at some new signings (as he's just extended his Matchroom deal with Sky)

          Two and two together I guess.
