I think Eder Jofre has to be up there. He had every punch, could go in combinations and excellent use of angles. In the discussion for greatest body puncher ever too.

No offense, intended, but I left him out just to see how long it would take to mention him.

There's another thread about greatest ever P4P. Guess how many people have brought him up...

Seriously, no one wants to accept the simple fact that he might have been the absolute greatest of all time simply because it's not popular.

I bet they still think N'Sync is the best band ever, too.

Jofre istechnically perfect. Whenhis punchesgo wide it's just to generate fight-ending power and get around his opponents defense. he never gets countered. For allthe Marciano andForeman love around here, you think people would take notice of how it's meantto be done.

I also excluded Napoles. I wonder how much longer this thread will go with the admission of his name.

Napoles is definitely up there too.

I agree on Jofre. Hes arguably the most complete fighter ever. Perhaps doesnt have Robinsons speed and flash but people shouldnt mistake that for not having a complete skill set.

He didn't have Robinson's penchant for hitting the canvas, either.

I've spent years on the mat. I know the problems that come with cutting weight. seeing Jofre enter the ring dessicated, and still pull out two wins (in my book) on foreign soil, against a man possessed far exceeds anything Robinson ever did. Harada is much better than ANYONE Robinson fought, and Jofre really held it together when any other Bantamweight fighting at his best would have quit.

People who have not Boxed cannot truly appreciate that fight. That's why they sit around watching Roid Jones Highlights.

Yeah, unfortunately there was no 122 back then like latter years. He would have been ideal there. Making 118 was a killer for years.

Shoot me your e-mail I have a lot of good Jofre stuff from old publications you may be Interested in.

Im currently in the midst of going through 2700 South American archives to send for translations for the book.
