I mean, I saw Oscar beat him with my own two eyes and get robbed.

And Oscar doesn't usually get credit as being a top 10 welter by historians.

I always think of Tito as limited. Great puncher, very dynamic fighter... But to each his own. I happen to adore Max Bauer as a puncher... He was talented also, Tito was a lot more together than Max...But when he faced a guy who could deal with a puncher as a boxer it wasn't even close. Hopkins was perhaps bigger, but was that really the issue?

How many welters could have done that in the history of boxing? Its hard to say because Welter is a carpet bagging division for many...Like Asteriods coming towards the earth, greats threaten the division, and then there are the mainstays.

I mean we have been discussing Burley, Homicide Hank...how would these guys have done fighting Tito? And Duran, and Robinson, and couldn't Leonard fight at Welter? Floyd? see the problem here? Off the top of my head... now imagine when we start looking carefully at guys who could fight welter; or even big lightweights... Could Tito's punch carry him?

Against Ross, Napolean, Gavilean, Hearns, Pacman, Walker, Mclearen, to name some. I will pose this as a rhetorical question. I never was a big fan of Tito but I love Puerto rican and Cuban fighters in general, they all learn the craft...frankly I like Cotto a lot more than tito. Ha! theres another one!

So this is what it looks like when Safe Spaces makes a thread.

And I thought Rotten.com on shrooms was garish.

Trinidad hurt himself remaining at Welterweight for so long. Kinda like Spence is doing now. He needed to move to 154. His power wouldn't have had the same effect, but his mobility would have improved.

He lost to de La Hoya. I think that says it all.

Of course, you can argue that against legends of the division he'd do well. But he wouldn't be a Welterweight in decades past. I don't doubt he entered the ring bigger than the Middleweight champion contemporary to Britton, McLarnin, Armstrong, Graham, Basilio etc. And I definitely wouldn't pick him against guys like Steele, Apostoli, Marshall, Giardello, etc. at their best.

I also agree that it wasn't simply Hopkins' size that won the fight, although it needs to be said that it mattered tremendously. It was a huge adjustment for Trinidad, and gave Hopkins a lot of confidence. No way Hopkins would take that fight if they were closer in size.

I thought we kicked you out of here to the MMA forum where your idiocy might actually be mistaken as knowledgeable. Oh well.

you want attention. I'll give it to you.

tell us why anyone with half a brain would consider Tito a top tier Ww.

It's almost impossible to make a Ww top 10 list. So many fighters better than Trinidad can't make a spot, yet you think we should be discussing his place on it....

                    explain why.

I saw that fight when I was about 15 and we were big Campas fans, it was just an amazing thing when you think about his run after that
Yes he was a G at Welterweight, Yori boy he nearly killed him in that fight
