Look at the mostly crap fighters Hopkins fought at MW and some people think he's a all-time great MW. I believe only 2 MW Champions could maybe beat Golovkin, Monzon and Hagler. Some people might think Roy Jones could but I see that as a Barrera v. Hamed type of fight with Golovkin as Barrera

Are you counting defenses of the "regular" WBA belt in those 18 title defenses?

Count up every defense of every belt and GGG is nearing a hundred defenses.

No one should be shocked if he is suddenly KO'd by a nondescript champion like Jacobs or even by a contender. He has proven himself only against semi-weak opposition. I am rooting for him but to place him anywhere near an ATG list based on what he has done so far in his flaccid era is preposterous to me.

I said this because it is hard to tell. Even if he blows out Jacobs, he will have a ways to go. If he retired after Jacobs, I would have to say no, not yet. But I can't say that eventually he might not get there with the right wins.

Golovkin's reign is following a similar path to Hopkins. Hopefully he will face all the best in his division in the way Hopkins finally managed to. Canelo is to Golovkin as Trinidad was to Hopkins, and Lemieux, Jacobs and Saunders are Golovkin's Joppy and Holmes.

He needs to unify the division and have a signature win versus Canelo or some other big name which as of now there are none at MW. Right now there is no willingness on the part of Saunders or Canelo to fight him.
