Ike Ibeabuchi: What could have been?

    20-0
Wins over undefeated and Prime David Tua and Chris Byrd.
6'2 and a chiseled 235lbs. Unusually great stamina for a big man(set the record for punch output in a HW fight against Tua). Very good boxing skills, was being labelled as a hybrid between Tyson and Holyfield. Big punching power.

What would he have done had he stayed out of jail and in the boxing ring?

Would have been a title holder for sure in the early 2000s. 'The' Champ? Hard to say. Don't know if he could have beaten Lennox or the Klitschkos...but certainly he'd be one of their most ferocious and dangerous opponents had they fought. He had all the requirements from a physical and skills standpoint, but his mentality was always his downfall. Ifs and buts...waste of an excellent talent though.

Its a kunumdrum, no doubt. I likened him to a young, bigger, Sonny Liston. Now, that, admittedly, was probably too high of praise for an up-and-comer; but it does emphasize the enormous amount of potential I saw in him, at the time.

Still, I can see no flaws, outside of what obviously must be looked at as mental instability, in the wake of his conviction.

If he could have kept his mind straight and not gone Looney toons, I think he could have been champ and set the stage for the most exciting era in the division.

Alas, it was not meant to be.

Would have been at the least a serious title contender in the era.
