    Henry Armstrong

I know Henry places very high on the all time p4p ratings. I was just curious about the quality of his numerous welterweight title defences. Of course beating Barney Ross was an incredible accomplishment but can someone enlighten me on his tougher successful defences.

If memory serves correct, I think most of his great wins were at the lower weights, and besides the ross fight at welter, I dont think he fought any other "elite" competitors at welter,,,
I could be wrong, but from the reading and research i have done on armstrong I think alot of his "great" victories were in the lower classes,,,

If i had to pick his best welter wins it would be probably Cefranio Garcia?? not sure if im spelling it right,, that dude would go on to win a middleweight belt,, but i never thought he was that great, just very good...
Armstrong also fought some guy, i cant recall, but the dude was like 91-4 or something like that, and henry beat him down with an all out aggressive throwdown,, need to boxrec it, im sure Irondan or Poet will know who im talking about....

Honestly armstrong at welter had alot of defenses, but some where against just some random journeyman,,
the win over garcia? was probably his best known name outside of ross, and i think he also had a draw with garcia? but not sure if it was at welter, or a title fight...

His next win after Ross was the lou ambers win, but that was a lightweight defense, im pretty sure

I'm interested in how good some of Armstrong's opponents were too, it seems hard to tell. In terms of name I think his best welterweight defence win apart from Barney Ross or Ceferino Garcia was Baby Arizmendi who had got the better of Armstrong on more than one occasion previously. I'm interested in finding out how good his opponents such as Pedro Montanez, Paul Junior, and Lew Feldman were, they all certainly had good records.

His best wins outside the welterweight title defences I suppose were beating Lou Ambers for the lightweight crown, Arizmendi twice, knocking out Sarron for the featherweight championship, beating featherweight champ Belloise twice, knocking out Chalky Wright, and the Lew Jenkins win.
