    Joey Maxim

I have often wondered what people thought of Joey. He seem's to lose only to the very best and was a smart and durable fighter. Your thought's?
Bye the way because of Sugar Ray Robinson's fame their is a lot of notoriety about him suffering from heat exhaustion in there fight. On Wikipedia it mentions that Joey was almost overcome as well.

Generally underrated i feel.. He was everything you say, smart, durable and a sound resume.. Gets knocked a lot for beating a pp SRR, but people tend to overlook the fact that it was'nt only Robinson, who had to put up with the heat in there.. By then Robinson had taken to hanging out with entourages of fancey-dans and was eyeing up a career in showbiz.. Maxim just did what he had to do.

Maxim is the only fighter to claim victories over Sugar Ray Robinson, Jersey Joe Walcott and Floyd Patterson. Not bad!

I might be wrong but if my memory serves me right, Patterson got robbed against Maxim.

I met him in the 1980s when he was a greeter at a casino in Las Vegas. It was an older one, since torn down, and it is driving me crazy that I can't remember the name of the place.

              Solid Boxer!

If Maxim had, had, any power at all, he would have been a threat to anyone & he almost was anyway, he was best at LHW, but had no power at that weight either, but he held his own in both divisions.
