Prime Naseem, Would he still be king in this era?

At his best he was one of the greatest entertainers in boxing with fantastic hand speed, amazing reflexes and very good power in both hands. We know he burned out early due to a lack of discipline but he did shine very brightly when he was on top of the featherweight division. Some have attributed the success of the lower weight divisions to his cross over popularity but that's another story. In his prime would Naz have lasted against the ATG quartet of Manny, Erik, MAB and JMM. The four of them put on wonderful fights between 126-130 lbs and each took turns in establishing their greatness. Naz on the other hand fell to the challenge of a motivated MAB and faded away. It might be the biggest waste of boxing talent this century. So ultimately do you think Naz would have ruled if he was prime vs the 4 superstars that followed him?

We just had a thread about this guy! He never fought anyone in their prime and was another "home cooked" fighter!!! The clown prince of whatever, key word "clown" !!!!

His opponents were very carefully choosen, theres no Eric Moralez near him. He fought Kelly that was a good win but Kelly had millage yet a good win.
He had very few bouts (maybe 30?), then disappeared. Maybe better competition was on the way? Ray.

He looses to the fellows that followed him!

It's hard to envision Hamed beating Manny, JMM, Morales, or winning a Berrera rematch. Hamed was awkward and had great power. The other were way more skilled than Hamed and each had good power of their own. The only one of the I think Hamed would have even a chance of beating would be Morales (he was more willling to go toe to toe than the others), and that would be a slim chance

I remember the prince with his speed n power but imo what made him effective was his weird style. imo when barerra got him there was enough film on him to know how best to fight him so in answer to the question, if the fighters listed had access to all the film on him, he would not beat barerra nor jmm. he might get morales or pac cuz morales never had a fight where he didn't eat some shots n pac is or was a come get it fighter at 126 so whoever landed the most would take it n Im not sure which one that would b

Naseem fought ONE top fighter in his prime and came up short. The excuses for the loss(not training properly, lack of desire at that point of his career etc) don't really cut it as we don't have a top performance against a top fighter in his prime as a bench mark only lots of examples where his opponents were out classed. Kelly was a good win but he was past his best.
Morales was around while he was fighting but there was no fight. He loses to Manny, Morales, MAB and JMM.

Well said, but then I was never a Naseem fan (I called him The Princess). I was convinced that MAB was going to spank him. I couldn't understand why anybody favored Naseem. I finished the fight being more impressed with Naseem than before the fight. I don't know if he believed his hype but losing to MAB was not shameful. It's unfortunate that Naseem didn't keep fighting. He was in his late 20s and was approaching his peak.

No... As much as I like him there are a few guys with too muh skill and power at those weight classes.

I'd give him the benefit of the doubt with 50/50 in some matchups but...thats about it

Hamed might have only been in his late 20's, but he was definitely past his boxing peak.

Why do you think that? I'm not arguing the point but I don't remember him being past it when he took on MAB. Did he have injuries to his back or something I completely forgot about?
