Lets say Valdes gets his chance the Rock. Is there any way he pulls the upset off?

Would Of Nino Valdes Stood Any Chance At Beating Rocky Marciano?

I doubt it. Valdes was a fairly formidable fighter on his better nights, but he fell over too routinely against the big boys --- which is the primary reason this match remained hypothetical, instead of real. It was rumoured that losing to Archie Moore in May of '55 finally did in the heavy-handed Cuban's chances of a title shot with the incumbent Marciano. That defeat came on the back of a decent run of scalps (Ezzard Charles among them), but failed to erase his image of not being able to get the job done reliably.
After Moore, Valdes' management attempted to right the sinking ship by pitting their man against some high-calibre opposition, hoping he'd come out on top, but several further losses (albeit to top men) resulted, cementing his fall from relevancy. He was rather used-up by the time a rising Liston made short work of him.
It seems likely he'd have come up short again versus Marciano.

Rocky probably would have won, but upsets can and do happen. Shame it never happened though. It would have been more interesting and competitive than the Don ****ell fight.

That was supposedly the reason Vadles' resume following the defeat to Moore features a slew of quality rivals --- an effort to quickly chase notable results, which, as we know, backfired.
