Shot fighters: How to you take this into account when ranking them?

Ali was shot post Frazier III
    Jones shot Tarver III
    Toney shot Peter I
    Holyfield shot after Toney?

To the historians here, how to you evaluate this part of thier careers. Do you ignore all their wins and losses once they have been classed a shot?

I wouldnt' consider myself a historian as there are a lot better posters on this forum than me but, I'll give my take anyway.

It's a tough one, in my opinion it depends on 2 factors.
    - Who they were fighting
    - How far out of there prime they were

For example, Hagler - Leonard did not bother my ranking that much as he was a little out of his prime but, Leonard is a world class opponent.

Again with Ali - Holmes seeing Holmes was a great fighter and Ali was waaay out of his prime.

If they are just out of there prime and lose to someone ranking lowly it hurts there legacy rating quite a bit.

There is also potential for a big gain as if someone an ATG way out of there prime loses to a good opponent as stated above then it does not hurt their legacy at all but, if they were to win it boosts there ranking up by quite a vast amount ie: Duran - Barkley
