1988 Mike Tyson VS 1990 Evander Holyfield

This is the Mike Tyson with Kevin Rooney as his trainer. Who do you think would win it?

IMO there would be no intimidation factor as in 1996/97, and I highly doubt it would be a first round knockout. I can see it going to the judges instead of a Holyfield stoppage as in 96/97. Tyson to win by putting combos together thus landing the best punches and by being the one going forward most.

This is a super dangerous fight for either.

Hand on heart I think Tyson steals a close 12 round decision after having the fight of his life. But it wouldn't be a suprise to see Holy shade it either.

I can see holyfield taking alot of stick early and perhaps brushing the canvas one or two times......but then having his stamina, fast combinations and heart close the show stronger just to lose possibly by split decision.

I honestly think Holyfield's punch power and also his ability to tie up became greater as the decade went on, but his combinations became less quick and flashy. Its arguable as to whether the 1990 Holyfield was the best version to tackle prime Tyson?

IIRC Holyfield had a hard time making 205 when he fought Bowe in 93. He also showed tremendous heart and had taken a massive beating and didn't go down until I believe the 11th round after taking some big shots in some heavy exchanges.

Bowe was pretty slow in getting his right around in that fight but he still had no trouble landing on Holyfield.

I don't see how Holyfield could deal with a young, lightning fast prime Tyson who hits harder than Bowe. It would be a very good fight but I see Tyson knocking him out in the later rounds with a forced stoppage.
