    Willie Pep Articles

I would like to find out more about this guy, does anyone have any links to cool articles they can post?

Also how would people here describe Pep's form of defense?

Just use this link and I've already did the searching for you and you will get all the old newspaper articles. You probably know about this feature but, just in case you didn't.
Was it this or modern articles you were looking for?

Pep relied mostly on his legs but his footwork was far from the only form of defense he had. He had great upperbody and head movement, relying on his natural defensive instincts and the experience he had, and technically his glove placements to block head/body shots, if not able to completely avoid them, were always correctly executed.

Basically he could do it all, but his preference of method was footwork, then body movement and lastly blocking. The only real option for most of his opponents was to try and rough him up in close and get to his body. This was difficult also as Pep knew all the tricks, how to tie up, turn or trip his aggressive opponent and make them look foolish but rough and tough fighters like Sandy Saddler and Sammy Angott were a lot stronger and were able to get work done in the clinches.

Some examples of Pep's defensive ability:

Unfortunately there isn't much footage of a prime Willie Pep, and the footage that we have is usually awful quality.
