What if... different ref in McKinney-Barrera

Great great fight which I just rewatched,

the ref was bad in a few ways, but the most blatant one was letting Barrera getting away with literally dozens of low blows.

If he had gotten a point deducted in round 3 or before (as he definitely should have) would McKinney had been broken down, or would he have pulled the D?

Sidenote. Rewatching the 2 mid rounds in which KMK gets knocked down, I feel like dis*****g the claim that the Jones losses changed Barrera around. I think he showed that what was after was already there, with the patience and method he was showing in those rounds.

Eh, I think Barrera was just the better, younger, meaner fighter. McKinney showed a lot of heart, but I think it was more the vicious (legal) body attack that did it than the low blows. In the second round, he landed some absolutely sickening body shots. Just devastating hooks to the liver and solar plexus.
