I really don't care for fantasy fights but that's all history fans really want to talk about. Sometimes you learn things from the arguments that come up so I like to participate but it's really hard and I'm really reaching for something to say.

Not talking **** Anomalocaris , you're cool man and for a fantasy boxing thread it is an interesting one. Also, I'm on BF24 every now and then and I know how much they love fantasy boxing and how normalized speaking to hypotheticals is over there so, ya know, I get that to you it might be weird that we find it weird. Bundy's reaction to this thread is very similar to my reaction to that forum. I'm not saying you come from there either, I dunno, just saying different communities have different normals.

Basically, y'all be patient and play nice. You're both top posters.

    No problem

I was on B24 for around a week but dared to mention the Pakist*** r*pe gang scandal in the UK and was booted off for being Isl**ophic.

A real shame as I loved the off-topic on there and wanted to start threads on so many subjects, the White shark one was very popular.

Ok, just to make something clear: I have nothing against old vs new comparisons. They can lead to some very interesting discussions.

What I don't really care that much for, is that we take someone from 120+ years ago - and pretend that he got his boxing upbringing in this era. Which may result in a boxer, that we can't even recognize! What's wrong with trying to imagine, how the actual Fitz would do against today's LHWs - say under 1960 rules (which is pretty much midway between Fitz's time and today)?

Anyway, you're a pretty cool dude, who refrains from berating posters, who don't agree with you. I kind of like that... and that goes for both here and over on BF24!

I wish I was still on there but some topics get you automatically banned from forums these days.

I don't mind people disagreeing with me at all - forums are for discussion.

It's when people get offended, throw a childish hissy fit and get insulting - that f***s me off!

The gloves the old times pre 1910 used and the conditions under which they fought under are mostly misunderstood today.

Legit asking, I've been told both before but never got in the weeds on that one myself.
He was a blacksmith by trade. Maybe that built up the right muscles in the right way?

Maybe. The thing is, he became light-heavy champ of the newly formed division AFTER he had slipped to past-prime. In prime, Fitz was a natural middleweight, and THAT'S where I'd like to see him hashed over at. Btw, Fitzsimmons is one of my all-time favorite fighters.

How would Fitz do with a different mother? Not too much a stretch for some of you boys. I think he should keep the mother he had. It is also high time we imagined Fitz as a transvestite fighter. How would he do against a transvestite Hagler. It is high time we answered these difficult questions.

Honestly I was kidding. We have no idea how he'd do. Given what he was able to do to Jeffries I'd expect he would do well enough today.

Look at his career. From Feb 3, 1890 to 7-1903 he did not lose except for Jeffries. 13 years +

Fitz was a beast. Hagler would never have seen anything like him. Those shoulders!
