When did Ring magazine recognise the WBO

Hello. I am trying to pinpoint when Ring magazine decided to recognise the WBO. I know as late as 2008, WBO titleholders were not mentioned in their almanac, so does someone know when they started to appear? Further, did they publish an article or editorial note justifying that decision?

Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

Possibly on the website but not in the almanac. As I said in my post, WBO titleholders were still not in the almanac as late as 2008. DLH - Sturm was 2004.

So Ring didn’t recognize BHop as 4 belt undisputed then? Interesting.

          now I’m curious lol

Ring already recognised B-Hop as middleweight champion and they'd dispensed with terms such as "undisputed" as irrelevant. However they did still mention the three main alphabet organisations. I remember around 2008 in one of their "state of the game" issues they only listed Wladimir as "IBF titleholder" even though he held the WBO too.

I became disillusioned with boxing around 2009/2010 with the Pac-Floyd nonsense so stopped buying magazines and following boxing news until a few years ago. It's during this period the WBO became part of the establishment and I would like to pinpoint it.

Thanks! I hate when ppl spit out bsht. Everyone just assumes ring worships Oscar. It's completely ran different then GB. And is independent.

But now it's going down hill. All the best are leaving and it's not being updated regularly

It's going digital only from next year too. I get it, people have a need for immediacy which a monthly magazine can no longer provide. Just from a historical interest point of view I would like to know when the print magazine decided to recognise the WBO. The Ring was one of the last holdouts with regards the WBO, which is part of the reason I respected them so much.

I have no idea? But I know it had nothing to do with Oscar like someone else said. And you proved it!

Honestly I didn't think they did?

Best bet is send Dougie Fish or Mike Montero that question. In a super chat? Or hit Fisch up in the comment section of his articles?

They both regularly answer our questions.
