I don't know if Callum can beat David. I don't really believe he can. But I still want to see him try.
The one good thing to come out of Benny's move to LHW is that he is being forced to box now and he's showing he does have more to his game than flashy power combos against smaller guys. While I won't call him feather fisted at LHW, the power he did have at SMW has not translated - yet, anyway. Against Gvozdyk and Morrell he was forced to adapt, and he did so admirably; better than I would have expected, at least.
Callum's boxing ability, at least to me, was always there, but he seems to have gotten more heavy handed with his jump. So... I don't know. Maybe it's a closer fight than I think? Benavidez probably overwhelms him but I give Callum a chance.
I give Callum a chance. Probably Benevidez favored
80-20 chance but I think best Callum would be more 60-40 chance.
I also think it will be a very interesting fight in similarities to Gvozdyk fight but Smith more active fighting.
To be handed another L ???
No need to see it
I already know the result
That's what needs to happen to fight top level fights and earn a shot at the title. That's on Smith if his odds aren't great at beating Benavidez, entertaining fight and one to make while Bivol/Beterbiev aren't available.
Think it be nice for Benavidez to keep busy and defend his title that wasn't won through a fight to be in shape and acclimate further into the division, it's not David's fault that WBC title was vacated to make a rematch between Bivol and Beterbiev. Hope Benavidez gets to fight the winner.
Be sastified with Benavidez's 2025 run if he fought Morrell and Smith. More if he could push for Albert Ramirez or Anthony Yarde in December if he wins unscathed, but the two fights would suffice.
