Can Smith show up again like he did vs Buatsi?

I think he felt pretty comfortable with Buatsi, didn't fear him, and never got to the point where he was looking frozen and/or pushed back like with Canelo and Beterbiev. But he probably would vs Benavidez because of the handspeed.

When Smith doesn't fall into that type of pattern in a fight he can be good. His left hook to the body is one of the best punches out there. Upstairs it's good too. But will he just be forced to cover up loikie Morrell did and never get off with many left hands that seemed available.

I doubt this fight happens anyway, but I'd be interested

Callum vs Benny on the Canelo-Bud card would be a really cool deal ngl. As far as Mundo real chances ,well, he's as gamed and experienced as Benavidez and its Boxing, so anything is on cards.

He's a brave man, to consider fighting Benavidez.

That's a bad beating that would happen right there, would need to be well remunerated financially.

Think it be nice for Benavidez to keep busy and defend his title that wasn't won through a fight to be in shape and acclimate further into the division, it's not David's fault that WBC title was vacated to make a rematch between Bivol and Beterbiev. Hope Benavidez gets to fight the winner.

Be sastified with Benavidez's 2025 run if he fought Morrell and Smith. More if he could push for Albert Ramirez or Anthony Yarde in December if he wins unscathed, but the two fights would suffice.
This will be a replica of Smith vs Canelo
He’ll be there just to be there
Imo , no need to see chit like that
Callum’s an alright guy , just out of his range

I kind of understand, but I rather see the fight to get things going than no fight at all. Both considered top level fighters at 175 and they are stylistically compatible.

Don't think Callum Smith needs to manage his career like the young prospects do by maneuvering around risks, considering he is currently competing at a dangerous division and is already 35 years old, he already suffered losses too. If he wants a title shot, this is best shot to fight a world champion in Benavidez. Even if his odds are pretty low.

If Smith gets beaten to a pulp, that's what happens. He tried putting effort and Benavidez defended his title against a top contender while waiting to get a shot against more notable fighters.

Smith was fortunate to get a title at 168 at a lackluster time for the division just to lose while drained to a smaller fighter, lost to two champs in Canelo and Beterbiev. Beat contenders like John Ryder, Mathieu Bauderlique and Joshua Buatsi at 168-175, not a HOF or Great run, but quite good enough to be considered a runner at the top in his division, not a champion caliber though. Even if he somehow did get a championship title at 175, he likely lose it soon after if he succeeded.

              Sorry but I don’t agree
Anyone who was given a lifeline , meaning if he lost to Buatsi , he was done , doesn’t deserve a shot imo
The result will be an L and I can’t even argue he will have a chance
The first time he gets to lean on the ropes , he’ll turtle and be like a dear in the headlights
Fight is no more intriguing than Benny fighting Andrade or Lemieux

Agree to disagree, if Benavidez doesn't fight Smith and waits for Bivol/Beterbiev, what fight would you want to see instead? Or do you think he should wait?

With the latter I think David would get bloated and have another excessive weight cut. Benavidez cut 220 to 175 inside a month and a half, before his fight. Mostly water weight instead of muscle, but still, his conditioning at the later rounds was affected. He looked more in shape though, like a proper light Heavyweight than he was against Gvozdyk.

With Gvozdyk he had a knuckle injury and a teared tendon before the fight. He threw a lot until he hesistated to punch with his injured hand unless he had to having to box more. He also looked like a fighter that is just fighting with added extra fat, outside his optimal physique. Which affected his stamina conditioning along with fighting through the pain.

I’d rather h3 fights Hot Rod
At least it would be intriguing not the guy who fought Buatsi tooth and nail

Fun fight, but a waste of his time considering he just beat the guy who beat Kalajdzic.
