Comments Thread For: Eddie Hearn: Tyson Fury and Daniel Dubois are the fights that motivate injured Anthony Joshua

Kieran Mulvaney speaks to Matchroom Boxing's Eddie Hearn, who says Anthony Joshua has suffered an injury that will leave him unable to train for 8-10 weeks and that Joshua would be most motivated to fight Tyson Fury or Daniel Dubois

AJ should just retire. he looked terrible against DDD, nobody wants to see that ever again.

He has made his money, retire while still young and healthy, enjoy your life man.

The HW division, more than any other in the sport, regularly demonstrates that any man can beat any other on any given night, with a little luck. Hard-core fans understand this. Nobody ever thought that AJ was unbeatable and he’s demonstrated that over and over again, but he’s certainly capable of putting it together and beating most any other man on any given night. He’s still got the drive to keep trying, and as he in Ben Davis, say why not roll the dice and see?

Hearn is talking like AJ is still HW champion with options, he looked terrible in his last fight. If he wants to rebuild his career great, I am here for it, but if he is done, and wants to count his millions, that's ok too, just be honest or STFU!

I'd still watch a "Loser Leaves Town" fight against Wilder lol. I think Wilder already left town, tho.

              What a fücking clown!

AJ needed the refs help to beat Parker 7 years ago and even then never put a dent in him over 12 rounds or gave him a rematch.

But Joshua gets splattered by Dubois in 5 and thinks he's due a title shot just cos...

Bro should just stick to rapsinging instead!

I guess I misunderstood the last "who Joshua gets next" article, because I thought he was already back in training from his injury. So it will be as late as June before he can even seriously train? I mean I get it, Hearn is a promoter and it is his job to keep Joshua in the headlines. But this is nuts. Maybe wait and see how he looks before you discuss his third comeback?

If anyone actually read what Heard said then I don't think there would be as much criticism. He was pretty circumspect about where Joshua is at in his career.

As terrible as Joshua looked v Dubois it's the heavyweight division and strange things can happen at the top level. If he wants to fight, and in particular if he wants to make big fights, then why not? It's his career and our entertainment.

I remember the Parker fight like you do. Every time Joe started some decent inside work on Anthony, the referee just stopped it and split them up for no reason that I could understand (other than protecting the 'A side'). However, Joe said "no excuses, the better man won", which I thought was generous of him.

Disagree with you about Joshua thinking he deserves a title shot. If he fights Tyson Fury, there will be no belts anywhere to be seen. And by the time Joshua might get a pointless rematch with Dubois, Daniel will have lost his belt to Oleksandr Usyk, so there won't be a title shot there either. Whatever happens, I don't want to see Joshua or Fury again, not even if they fight for free in my bathroom. And if they break anything, I'll give them both a slapping.

Super rich folk should just retire. If I win the national lottery jackpot, I'll stay home with my slippers on, not go back to work.
