It's only the people that are too ignorant to actually look into the whole spectrum of hip hop that make those kinda statements.

It's like I'm not a fan of heavy metal but I won't say it isn't real music because there is obviously a lot of decent stuff out there that I haven't heard. You should show him this vid

It is music, but from someone who plays live instrument, or writes music, like sheet music, or is a fan of an orchestra, etc..... someone taking someone else's samples, playing with it on a computer, and having someone else chant something over it....

....it does seem to be LESSER music.

And I would agree, to some degree, that some of what is contained in hip-hop isn't "real music." Of course, that goes to other genres too. Most of that artificial pop paint-by-numbers formula sound on Radio Disney isn't real music either. Those TV stars can't even sing on pitch when they go live.

There is certainly an art to much of what is entailed in hip-hop, and I don't like blanket statements like the one on the board you mentioned, but go to the opera or go to a symphony, then play Souljaboy tell 'em in the CD player on the way home, and maybe you'll see it a little bit "their way"...lol

I agree. Music that involves live instruments are harder and music that involes singing is also harder. But its more so the attitude of the posters over there thats bothering me. I just don't like the vibe. and all the ****** posting rules. just kind of a lame site. imo
