    new training routine

ok. new year new start. i have been out of the gym with the flu and xmas lately and my training has suffered. im starting again. how much should i be doing? i can only box twice a week because thats when the gym is open. but what should i do for running? two long runs (5 miles) and 3 sets of sprints each week? i want to put on about 20lbs too. i know alot of you guys will try and discourage me but i have being this small. i feel weak and vunerable now and i have a subluxing shoulder that is exagerated by not having much mass in my deltoids.

my biggest concern however is my shocking speed. im just slow all over. when ever i try and do anything its just slow. if i do a lean back/duck it takes for ever. what can i do to build explosiveness? thanks

Firstly can't you find a gym that is open all week?

10 Miles a week is fine but I would personally go for three five mile runs a week at higher terrain and do your sprints with these runs.

As for putting on the weight, I would have a look at supplements mate.

Building speed is hard, you can maximise the speed you have yet to see in yourself but you can't train to be a Pacquaio or Roy Jones. Speed is a natural attribute but you can build circuits around your needs.

You're gonna have a hard time doing that much running while still gaining muscle. And have a hard time getting faster with all that extra muscle.

honestly, no offense but that kinda pisses me off. not you in particular but all these people with new years resolutions.

i mean instead of telling everyone bout my new years resolutions i got the F up at 6am this morning, hung over, tired, pissed off, and i ran in the mother***** cold like i do every morning. and just like every morning it was agony and i hated every single second of it but i did it.

idk seems like if you were really serious about it you woulda just done it instead of wait til the afternoon to post about it.

but actually, thanks because you provided me with some motivation as i was feeling a bit lazy and didn't want to do my afternoon routine but this **** reminds me about mental toughness. sincerely, thanks!

dont worry man. im not going to flake on this like most people ive been training for months. its just this past month ive been quite lax. still went out this morning when it was pissing it down with rain and maybe managed 2 miles. im quite out of shape. but i was just wondering what i should do long term.

so you rekon 15 miles a week? ok. i will work towards that. whats a good way to train for endurance? just literaly run as far as i can? or are there any special technices.

also i was thinking of doing the running in the morning so i didnt burn any calories i eat during the day. and add a few more to help. one thing i heard is that doing this can burn muscle though. and i dont reckon i can manage 5 miles on an empty stomach. what is a good meal to run on? bannanas? and then eggs or some other protein when i get back?

Adding 20lbs of muscle is not something you do simultaneously with building endurance.

you dont need a coach to train in more boxing, like doing your homework.I do sprints in seconds by sets (depends on you) like this sprint/jog 30secs/60secsx1-5 sets then sprint/jog 60secs/120secsx1-5 sets or your own variations. Do a set cool down until heavy heart beat or breathing goes away, then do another set. I like to run the same route outdoors, using a time i just jog at a comfortable pace for a half hour or an hour whatever you can take, you now what you ran in however long. I'd drive it and see the distance i ran in however much time. And go from there.

                  I do...

                  basic bodyweight workouts,

                  well planned weight training routine.

move fists in the hardest fastest circles i can, in all used punches (circles no bag or fully extending the arm just pump out hella circles hard n fast). with or without gloves. Maybe some weighted gloves. dont really need to use your hips for this unless it helps. more of a warm up than anything, but do it for a while and lemme now if ur arms start burning so good.

Proper nutrition is the most important.
