When you feel like you can't keep going just push through, just ignore your body and keep going. (unless you feel an injury)

in sparring you can't just put your head down and put your hands on your knees man, what if that was a fight? you would knocked flat quick.

I'd suggest improving your fitness man, start running at least 3 times a week. Try and find a running track ort football field and do some sprints and intervals.

Try doing 3 or 4x400 metre (or yards or whatever they are called) sprints with a one min rest inbetween each one, then rest for a few minutes and do some 50 metre/yard sprints with a 10 sec rest inbetween, do 8-10 of them (or less if your really fatigued) and then just jog for 5 mins to cool down. That's a good routine for someone who hasn't really sprinted before and who isn't really that fit. As you get better you can build up.

Maybe do something like the above routine twice a week, and then do a longer run once per week, maybe 4 miles at a brisk pace, to maintain overall cardio and keep weight down. That should get you in good shape.

Honestly, it sounds like you either burn yourself out by throwing too many punches early on without conserving energy............or you're not quite physically fit enough at the moment. If you feel fatigue coming on keep your hands up, reduce the pace of your footwork and possibly look to clinch.

Try and pace yourself well and also work on your fitness:

I'm a great believer in running to improve a boxer's fitness. Running 800 metre reps with one minutes rest will help build up cardio fitness to a great level, this distance should also give your explosive capacity a boost too. 800 metres is two laps of a standard Olympic track, or half a mile. Try to keep the reps to around 3 minutes. See if you can do two reps to start off, then build up to six over time.

Keep doing your pad/bag and sparring. Your fitness will improve for as long as you keep training well. But slow things down when you feel that weakness that eventually makes you curl over.

      Best of luck......

Ha ha, I was writing my above post whilst Stone Roses was posting. Similar sort of content there and totally agree with what he has said.

Yes 400 metre reps are great too. 800 metre reps are just my preference because they fit with the boxer's 3 minute round nicely.

You gotta push man, dont think about how tired you are. Focus on whats happening in the ring, try to ignore the other stuff. If you think about how great it would be to get a break then you're only making it worse. Keep pushin, thats the only way youre gonna improve your cardio. Youre not going to improve it if you quit every time you feel tired.

Also try to relax in the ring. A lot of younger guys fly around and throw crazy combinations as soon as the fight starts. Take it easy, relax. Dont gas yourself.

That being said dont quit man. Always looks bad when you just stop sparring in the middle of the fight, coaches dont like that. Like i said take it easy, you dont have to knock out your opponent within the first 5 seconds. expect the fight to go over 10 or 12 rounds

Excellent advice and im about to go up to my old schools track today and do the exact workout you said, im gonna go 4-6 half miles around the track with a minute rest in between. Ive never really though about doing that, well the running of course but not doing the whole half mile rest half mile rest scenario, and youre right about that whole 3 minute thing too, if youre running it right and not bull****ting, than a half mile should be about 3 minutes (maybe a little more)..

That's just weakness leaving the body... Keep pushing... Work hard in the gym so everything else is easy...

80% of getting over that hump is mental... 10% you really can't do it and your muscles will not physically allow you... 10% caution for your health because you can push yourself too hard and harm yourself... Probably 90%+ people live under that 80% and just don't push hard enough... I definitely am in that category...

Hi Hateinyaeyes32, Yea 6 reps of 800 metres with one minutes rest in between is a fantastic workout if you can keep to the 3 minute rep.

I'm not going to pretend that you wont feel like throwing up afterwards.....I can feel a little dizzy between reps but wow, doing this regularly builds serious fitness and can be done in under half an hour.

I only did 4 reps today but tomorrow im aiming for atleast 6, it was snowing like a ***** today too so that also took a toll on me!
