    Junior world champ in Kyokushin (bare knuckle karate; 1 minute continuous fights, no punches to the face but full power punches to body and kicks to head and body allowed)

        I love this featured column for a number of reasons.
        It's an easy way to get the week's schedule in one quick read.
        But more importantly, we get a simple and concise background on the showcased fighters we might not otherwise have heard of, and in that way expands our knowledge and perspective of the overall landscape of boxing.
        Well done, and keep these weekly columns coming, please.

        Also, I feel the urge to say something about Josh Kelly's opponent this week.
        Flavius sounds like the name of a Roman aristocrat from "Gladiator".
        He's the first boxer named Flavius I've ever heard of.
        Ironically, the name derives from the Latin 'flavus' meaning 'yellow'.
        In American slang, yellow means cowardly.​
