Comments Thread For: Patience pays? Joshua Buatsi's long wait for a title shot may be nearing an end

The time is now for Joshua Buatsi. Should he beat Willy Hutchinson and win the WBO interim light heavyweight title at London's Wembley Stadium on Sept. 21, Buatsi (18-0, 13 KOs) plans to fly out to Saudia Arabia and make sure he is front and center when WBC, WBO and IBF titleholder Artur Beterbiev and WBA titleholder Dmitry Bivol fight for the undisputed championship on Oct. 12.

He's a good fighter but I don't think he'd beat Bivol, Beterbiev, or Benavidez.

Buatsi's just waiting out Beterbiev - same as Bivol and many others - he's seen what happened to Yarde and Callum Smith so he knows what's up

Buatsi has been plagued by inactivity, and he has also attracted criticism for a perceived lack of urgency and for turning down an apparent ?m offer to fight Bivol last year. But his patience has paid off. Rather than fighting Bivol for the WBA title or challenging Beterbiev for the WBO strap, Buatsi, with a win on Sept. 21, will be in pole position to challenge for the undisputed title.

Not really true though, Benavidez is the one in pole position to challenge now. Buatsi might be on the outside waiting for a while now.

Bivol certainly didn't "wait out" Beterbiev they were both signed with DAZN at the same time fought within months of each other and it was Beterbiev who decided to leave DAZN and go to another promotion.

He also continually allowed his promoter (Arum) to "poo poo" the fight and fighter and his and the fight's alleged lack of value.

Which allowing Bob to do that and him leaving DAZN really doesn't indicate him wanting the fight until the Saudis came up with money he couldn't refuse.

Now Buatsi might be doing that because his pen seems to go missing whenever there is a meaningful fight on the horizon but the same can not be said of Bivol.

These "interim" titles when there's already active champions is farcical and just another blatant money grab by the corrupt sanctioning bodies.
