Hopkins had a great way to keep his stock from falling after a loss and that was to beat the guy that beat him and that's why he was always able to keep his name in the upper portions of the rankings.Slip jab

Another great read. Too bad Dougie over at ring magazine stopped the mailbag. This is by far the superior product, however I still miss reading the fans thoughts and observations about the fights.

Canelo v Crawford is a ridiculous fight fir several reasons.
1. Crawford struggled against Madrimov. 2. Crawford age is starting to show. 3. It’s a no win situation for Canelo. He wins, he beat another small fighter. 4. Canelo is a devastating body puncher, and have much more power than Crawford. 5. When closely looking at Crawford’s resume, who has be beat that you would put in a category with SRL, Hearns, and Hagler? His best win was against Kell Brook, a good fighter but nowhere near the 3 I mentioned. Spence was damaged goods. I predicted that would be a very easy fight for Crawford while most were calling it a 50/50 fight. I say Boots beats him if he cleans up his defense.
That fight is nothing more than a money grab for both fighters, more so for Crawford. If you think Crawford was hesitant to engage against Madrimov, it will be worse against Canelo.
The fight that people should be wanting is Crawford’s v Boots, Benny v Canelo, Inoue v Junto. Crawford has no chance against Canelo even with Canelo’s diminishing skills. But if Turkie is dumb enough and desperate enough to do that fight, I guarantee you that Crawford, after he loses, will say that he was willing to take the challenge. In reality, all Crawford is looking for is a payday, period.
