Comments Thread For: Nico Ali Walsh Unfazed by Critics as He Looks to Avenge First Loss

Sixty years after Muhammad Ali knocked out Sonny Liston to win the heavyweight title at the Convention Center in Miami Beach, Nico Ali Walsh - the grandson of "The Greatest" - will step foot on South Beach soil for the first time on June 29, looking to avenge the lone loss of his career against Sona Akale.

I never thought I'd be typing this on and NSB message but I was just wondering what had become of Nico and his career since his loss. I've been ambivalent at worst regarding the fighter but ESPN's adulation of him and placing him on marquee parts of a fight card annoyed me. I would have to endure listening to Kriegel spew his "artistic" commentary about Nico and his grandfather for what felt like hours in the buildup to his fights.

Anyway, I wish Ali Walsh the best of luck and may even tune in (probably with the mute on).

He's like an episode of reality TV. Will never beat any really good fighter, much less great fighter. It seems honestly like it would be kind of embarrassing to jump ahead of so many more worthy fighters because of your last name. He just isn't any good and the circus because he is related to Ali is cringe as hell.

Kriegel is a know nothing dolt. Atlas had it right when he called his ******ity out on National television. Of course it got him fired but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t true. I guess you can say whatever you want on your last day. Kriegel is vomit inducing cringe.

I just can't stand Kriegel telling us every five minutes Nico is the grandson of Muhammad Ali. Yes Kriegel we know, it's literally in his name stop telling us.

That’s what I dislike, that he isn’t very good but gets shoved down our throats because of the Ali name. He is taking tv time that could go to more deserving, less heralded fighters.

I opened this article to see how long it would take for the author to mention Muhammad Ali. I was not disappointed…

He seems like a good kid and a nice guy, but lets be real, he's never going to win a title. He's just not that good. Hats off to him for trying though , especially when he had to know that he would get a lot more scrutiny and criticism than other guys coming up. It's part of the deal, with extra privileges comes extra heat.

Ugh it's a cheap fight for them on an undercard, but it's awful to watch him flailing about against untalented fighters and sc**** out wins...and now a loss lmao. This will make literally no new fans like boxing and pi$s off us die hard types? What the fug is the endgame here? Someone is giving this kid and Campbell Hatton the wrong advice. Its different when you have talent ala eubank jr, or even a benn type, but this is just setting them up to be humiliated while the promoter turns a dime on a past name. Campbell and Nico cant even hope to be a diego de la hoya.

There is no shame being a lower tier boxer in my opinion, just dont take up tv slots and my time.
