Put this into perspective. Hagler was ducked and didn't get a title shot for years. He finally gets one against Minter who says, "no black man will ever take my title." Hagler batters him and takes his title, only to have bottles and trash thrown in the ring. He couldn't even celebrate his crowning achievement and had to be escorted to the back.

Hagler is the type of guy who always had a chip on his shoulder and boxing politics never did any favors for him.

Those bottles were coming in like missiles, the police sorrow died him, and escorted him out the ring. I was shocked watching it.

Did the bottles stem from racism or hometown being pissed that their guy didn't win?

Hagler deservedly felt aggrieved by what occurred that night but that win catapulted Hagler to becoming one of the richest boxers on the planet...Yeah still has a chip onhis shoulder lol
