Which heavyweight could outslug prime George Foreman?

Who do you think would have a chance?

    #2
    Tyson
    Liston
    Louis

stand a chance of catching and hurting him with crisper shots mid-exchange, but I wouldn't necessarily bet on it.

yeah Quarry had a granite-chin and enjoyed fighting big punchers who he could counter-punch, Quarry was No1 contender for Foreman's world title but George wanted nothing to do with Quarry

Some time ago I wouldn't have given Quarry a chance against Foreman.......but now I'm not so sure! Jerry had a damn good chin (better than Frazier's in my opinion) and if he could survive the first six rounds or so he may well be in with a shot in this one.

I'd also give the following a shot at outslugging say 1973 Foreman:

            Liston
            Tyson
            Bowe

I wouldn't bet on these fights though!

Ibeabuchi might have been in with a fair shot too. Great chin, power and workrate!

There was a lot of talk of Foreman and Quarry meeting in late 1973 and contrary what some have said, Foreman was interested in the fight. However, around that time he signed to meet Norton fresh off his Ali win, then he fought Ali and lost, and by the time he came back in 1976 Quarry was out of the picture. I don't see anything to suggest him running scared of Quarry.

I think the whole 'foreman was scared of quarry' thing has been blown out of proportion a bit

Maybe a few might have a shot, but I see Big George being favored in all encounters. Brawling with a young Foreman is a death wish.

Prime Big George from the 70s? In a pure slug fest with no technique at all.....the only person i would pick to match him is the incredible hulk....
