The unbeaten Dominican middleweight, Euri Cedeno, has signed promotional terms with Top Rank.
Cedeno boxed at the Tokyo Olympics and Top Rank will be working alongside King’s Promotions in moving the prospect’s career forward.
The promising 25-year-old southpaw, 11-0-1 (10 KOs), is set to return on Saturday, June 7, at Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, against Ecuador’s Abel Mina, who is 18-3-1 (9 KOs).
They will box on the bill topped by Keyshawn Davis’ WBO title defense against Edwin De Los Santos and Cedeno joins countrymen Elvis Rodriguez, Olympic teammate Rohan Polanco, and Yan Santana as part of the promoter’s talented Dominican line-up.
Cedeno started boxing at the age of five and was inspired by his late father Aquino, who was a well-known coach in the Dominican Republic.
Aquino guided Euri through some 400 amateur bouts, and he also coached Euri’s older brother Hendri (who is a 16-0 pro junior welterweight). The brothers had wanted to turn pro together, but Euri stalled so he could go to the Olympics. Eventually, he turned pro in October 2022 and won six bouts before drawing with unbeaten Cuban Dayan Depestre in October 2023. A couple of months later, he defeated 13-0 Yoanki Urrutia, and he has won four further bouts.
“It’s a great honor to join Top Rank’s incredible stable,” Cedeno said. “This opportunity results from years of hard work, including over 400 amateur fights, my Olympic run, and 11 wins as a pro. I’ve earned it, but there’s still a long way to go until I achieve my dream of becoming a world champion. I begin this next big chapter in my career on June 7 in Norfolk.”
Top Rank’s Bob Arum said Cedeno is one of the most complete fighters to come out of the Dominican Republic.
“He has amateur pedigree, the composure of a seasoned veteran, and all the tools to become a real threat in the middleweight division,” said Arum.
“I’m very excited about this co-promotion with Top Rank, which is — and has been — the best promotional company in the world,” said Marshall Kauffman, CEO of King’s Promotions. “I believe we have a future star in Euri Cedeno, and with the guidance of matchmakers Brad Goodman and Bruce Trampler, this kid will win multiple world titles.”
