Boxing on ESPN is a winner clearly. That was a fight with not even any buzz among boxing fans. That’s impressive numbers indeed.

Makes me realize how much Andre Ward and Feminism were some of the main reasons why HBOBoxing died.Last edited by MisanthropicNY; 02-05-2019, 07:41 PM.

The APP is not doing well. No body wants to pay $50 a year to split boxing even further. And then have the price go up to PPV rates to make up the profit margins.
In the end subscribing to all theseindividual apps will cost more than cable and offer less value, flexibility and options.

This was a significant fight between two of the top
light heavyweights, and boxing fans should have been
excited about it. Thurman drew significantly more on FOX
while fighting a fringe contender.
Don't believe the hype.
ESPN and top Rank are a desolate sinking ship.
Top Rank has backed themselves into a corner, and they
cannot manufacture what appear to be quality opponents
for their stars fast enough. Except at 175-lbs,
They got nobody for their biggest names to face.
Is anybody in their right mind interested in paying to see
Crawford destroy Khan on PPV?
That should be included with your $5 ESPN+ subscription.

To your first point, broadcast TV still has WAY more available free outlets and access than ESPN on cable/satellite does, so that is not quite an apples to apples comparison. That 1 million viewership is great for ESPN, and they are probably giddy.
Your second point? Sweet Mother there is no way I could agree more. That fight screams ESPN.

ESPN is regular cable and should have gotten higher ratings.
