Comments Thread For: Micky Ward: Khan Not Easy, Could Upset Pacquiao

Retired ex-fighter Micky Ward, who now works as a trainer, says Amir Khan is not going to be an easy opponent for Manny Pacquiao.

There are ongoing discussions to make that fight in early 2016. The two fighters were once sparring partners when they trained side by side with Hall of Fame trainer Freddie Roach at the Wild Card Gym in Hollywood, California. Khan left Roach for Virgil Hunter in 2012.

I think Manny Pacquiao will not agree his promoter Bob Arum to fight Amir Khan. Because Amir Khan is a non sense opponent because he was a miss match with Danny Garcia he was knock out many time. The best last fight for Manny Pacquiao win or loss is Danny Garcia before his retirement.

Why are we still talking about Pac vs. Khan?

          9/30/2015:

In regards to that potential clash, Arum spoke to jeetwin55.com about the Argentine slugger - "He's an exciting guy and he's gotten a lot of exposure and he would assure everybody that it would be a very exciting match."

If Matthysse should come out victorious and capture his first major world title, a bout with Pacquiao wouldn't be at junior welterweight.

"We would do it at like 144-pound catch-weight. Manny's not a true welterweight," said Arum.

Recent reports have suggested that perhaps Amir Khan is the frontrunner to win the Pacquiao sweepstakes, but Arum stated,"There's certainly been discussions with him but I wouldn't say he's the frontrunner."

Arum's statement tells it all. They're looking for someone to fight at 144. I believe that only leaves Terence Crawford. Make it happen!

You must go off rumors and not actually WATCH Manny's fights. Manny's power is fine. It's his opponent's who act differently once he starts hitting them flush. Roidquez, Bradley, Algeri, Rios, and Floyd all fought differently once they started getting hit. No? Get your boxing IQ up son. Anyone with common sense KNOWS that Manny is a natural puncher who throws thudding punches.

Even though Khan has China Chin I say he beat the wash up Pacquaio similar To Berbeck beating old Ali

Any opinions are just speculation obviously, but IMO Khan gives Pac a run for his money. Ironically, I think Khan would give Floydie an even tougher time in the ring.

But with Pac/Khan... obviously Khan has to be super defebsive or he's toast. But he definitely has the tools to shut down Pac if he stays on his bicycle all 12.

I think it's too soon for TC, I really do. Pac would eat him up and I'd rather TC went on and carved his own career at 140 first, without having to move up already and fight Pacquiao.

It's not about what TC wants, or what Manny wants, or what Freddie wants (Danny Garcia), it's about what Bob Arum wants, and always has been. Arum is looking for a fight for Manny at 144, and he's going to have problems without Haymon. TC is the best option, because he'll accept 144 and he's in house.
