It’s good to see an American trainer adding killer instinct to the Cuban style.

Killer instinct is born with you, it can be refined but you're who you're. I have been telling fans like you, that Rigondeaux and Lara are only part, technical and defensive part, of the Cuban boxing. And as you know when Lara has been pressed he can put a whooping on anybody, he's not aggressive when the opponent doesn't know how to touch him. Did anybody teach Gamboa how to go for a Ko? How about Casamayor, Ortiz, Morrell Jr, Iglesias, Tellez, Gonzalez, JC Gomez, Dorticos, Herrera, should I keep naming Cuban boxers with killer instinct? Back in Cuba, there are wars in every tournament from base, regional, provinciales(state) all the way to the Nationals. Go and search old amateur fights from Correa, Stevenson, Jose Gomez, Carrillo, JL Romero and all that bunch. You're going to enjoy it.

My first time seeing him tonight; fun fighter to watch.

Took a lot of clean body shots, but was still spry throughout. Takes advantage of most openings which is exciting

I didn’t see the fight. Very pleased at what I’ve read about it. Andy has the talent and skills. It’s great that he’s chosen to fight as he does. He could’ve easily gone the hit-and-don’t-be-hit route. Not that there’s anything wrong with that, but boxer-puncher is much more exciting. My only concern is that they’re not moving him fast enough. Already 29, Cruz needs to be busier.

The guy is 29 years old with ton of experience in the ammys
Maybe giving a little more gas would be more effective

He turned pro in 2023. Don’t know what month, but he fought only twice. In 2024 he fought…twice. No excuse for that. Cruz is a real talent, who’s only getting older. His window is likely to be brief. Andy simply has to get busier — much busier. Unafraid to mix it up, and with those skills, the guy is fun to watch. I’d love to see more of him.
